Board_hunter567 posted... I live in the South, so I can honestly say the best way is by helping them. Not in the ways that the ignorant want to be helped I mean help them by fixing voting rights, restoring employee rights, giving them good healthcare, offering education, creating modern and sustainable jobs, bolstering employment assistance programs, reduce the cost of living, fix the housing ...

EPR-radar posted... Bond_543 posted... something being justified is not what people ought to do. Justification is not a moral commandment, but it is still a moral concept. E.g., the justification for taxation in the US rests on the idea of the US being a representative democracy. So arguing that taxation in the US is justified is a moral ...

Sellers will thus chase after that money by all raising prices. Average consumers will pay it because the value of each dollar decreased due to their "extra" money. Thus, price increases will devour the UBI payment. The poor - who didn't really receive "extra" money because they were struggling before - will also have to pay those higher prices.
No-Dealer Boris getting May's deal through, a deal he didn't even really try with nor expect to pass (so much he didn't even bother pretending to appease the DUP) would be so Brexit. Argument winners: strawman, calm down, troll/hater, (you) clearly, LOL, don't care, I'm done, actually this is funny, not wasting my time, butthurt, keep trying ...
Expecting politicians not to create in-groups or group identities is like expecting soldiers not to have sex during deployment (I've seen people on the right who not only wanted to retain Don't Ask Don't Tell, but they wanted to extend it to straight soldiers as well-- e.g. anyone who has sexual relations with anyone other than their wife while ...

The "best country in the world" conceit is what most will think of their own country, it's natural. I'm not American, so given what I consider to be an unhealthy gun obsession and an insanely high rate of mass shootings, the US falls into the "it's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there" category.
I think it's trying to help people have a more accurate view of the people's relationship to their government. Income tax itself is your money and your family's money and your neighbor's money. It's our money. When we get an income tax rate reduction or (in some states) a kicker, it's not a gift, but it's our own money being returned back to us.

I am talking about climate change, trade rules, technology standards and preventing excesses and contagion in financial markets. If your country wants to have a say in how those problems are solved — and your country’s name is not America, Russia, China or India — you need to be part of a wider coalition like the European Union.

Neither. I don't judge the poor. They're basically similar though; the main difference is that a NEET is less likely to behave in a manner that gets them kicked out. A NEET who's a drunk drug addict will probably become homeless real quick. Humble_Novice posted... they have the means to find work or contribute to society Mental illnesses disagree.

Once we have been subsumed into the moral group of our choosing we, as a species, tend to out right reject ANYONE who doesn't fit within our own moral matrices. Which tends to be a problem because that create HUGE blind spots in our reasoning that prevent us from properly conversing with those outside of our groups and reject everything about ...
