Once we have been subsumed into the moral group of our choosing we, as a species, tend to out right reject ANYONE who doesn't fit within our own moral matrices. The "best country in the world" conceit is what most will think of their own country, it's natural. I'm not American, so given what I consider to be an unhealthy gun obsession and an insanely high rate of mass shootings, the US falls into the "it's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there" category.

I think it's trying to help people have a more accurate view of the people's relationship to their government. Income tax itself is your money and your family's money and your neighbor's money. It's our money. When we get an income tax rate reduction or (in some states) a kicker, it's not a gift, but it's our own money being returned back to us.
I am talking about climate change, trade rules, technology standards and preventing excesses and contagion in financial markets. If your country wants to have a say in how those problems are solved — and your country’s name is not America, Russia, China or India — you need to be part of a wider coalition like the European Union.

Sellers will thus chase after that money by all raising prices. Average consumers will pay it because the value of each dollar decreased due to their "extra" money. Thus, price increases will devour the UBI payment. The poor - who didn't really receive "extra" money because they were struggling before - will also have to pay those higher prices.
