Just kill Ace Mobs with 3 dots or lower. At lvl 40 : Ace Brutal, Ace Meat Clods, Hobo near Ether Station. At lvl 45 : TC at Sette, Hobo at White Hole, Passer Beta at White Hole At lvl 47-49 : Assassin Builder A, Calliana at White Hole Ace mob drops 6-8 item per kill while ordinary mob drops 2-3 at max. They are hard to kill, yes.
As for the price: Elite Dangerous is $30 ($60 for the Deluxe version with everything) and Eve online is $20 for the game and then $15 a month after that. There's no subscription fee on Elite Dangerous. I'd say if you're looking for a game that's more like an MMO, go with Eve Online.

I spent alot of time on it and had a level 60 character. My brother also had a level 50 character. Online, it's better to stay in the fight hitting the monster than dying or missing openings for slightly higher damage (less damage overall). It's good to have balance. Not taking Trem Res and/or some form of Earplugs to a 140 Rajang room where frames suck to begin with is a great way to lose out on overall damage or fail the quest.
