It gives the caster a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls, a +1 bonus to all Saving Throws, and 1 extra attack per round.
Also, since you can get 8,000,000 experience in Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition, there's no real danger of failing to overcome your first class' level with your second class unless you just utterly lack common sense. Speaking of not having any common sense, you should always start as a single-class Fighter whenever you plan to involve a Fighter ...

While enraged, a Berserker gains a bonus of +2 to his attack and damage rolls as well as his Armor Class, and becomes immune to charm, confusion, fear, feeblemind, hold, maze, imprisonment, level drain, maze, stun, and sleep. Talk to the Weapon Instructor at (x=2390, y=2130) and offer to show them how to split the keg. Do so, and then continue to 'train' them in how to use a spear for a little experience. There are a few weapons in the racks just north of the trainees.

This class was a load of crap in Baldur's Gate 2, and it's a load of crap in the Enhanced Edition. Really, Overhaul Games? The Baldur's Gate 2 Tweak Pack fixed this and you couldn't/wouldn't? Maybe the Werewolf/Greater Werewolf shapeshift in Baldur's Gate 2 wasn't nerfed... maybe it was canon. It was SUPPOSED to suck, sure.
I'm not going to provide any commands-you can look up fixes found by people smarter than myself, but if you need to get the console working you can do so by editing the Baldur.ini file, which is found (for Windows users) in the following folder: Documents/Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition All you have to do is open said file in Notepad and ...

Remember to use Remove fear when fighting Sherincal or the Guardian. Aid is an OK damage booster. The amount of Hold Person spells depends on if you're fighting humanoids or not. Magic Circle Against Evil is needed if you use Gate, but it's rather OK to use as general buff as well as it boosts saving throws.
