We have been eating Thanksgiving dinner in Boston for more than 15 years and almost all of those have been at the Ritz-Carlton. Unfortunately, a few years ago they sold the Boston Garden location on Newbury Street to Taj Hotels. So the last couple years we have been going to the Boston Common Ritz.

I have not heard of any free-standing specifically Indo-Chinese restaurants in the Boston area. However, some postings on this board have indicated that Namaskar in Davis Square is increasingly adding some Indian-Chinese items to their menu, such as chilly chicken and gobi manchurian.

Pondicherry was the high end Indian place you recall. I was a server there and cut up Tandoori chicken tableside. Lauriat's Books was next door. The slot is now occupied by Au Bon Pain. Back then, in 1980, Au Bon Pain's main business was selling baguettes to restaurants.
I saw that Banyan Bar and Refuge opened in the old Hammersley space. I was wondering if anyone has been. Any insight appreciated. If not, I will likely be going soon and shall report back. I enjoyed Philip Tang's food at East by Northeast and am interested to see what he has brought to Banyan.

These colorful, marbleized, portable chocolate domes are packed with the flavors and textures of some of Susanna’s favorite desserts, which include a kalamansi meringue pie, and the vero, a silver blue bonbon that houses a mix of sea salt caramel and crunchy pecan bits.

Indigo, Needham is fabulous. It cannot be compared to that sinfully overrated, noisey eatery up the street, "Blue on Highland". Indigo has a great fully stocked, intimate bar and an interesting menu. They will bend over backwards to make you happy.
