I also cannot login to that account on the Pokemon website. People have been saying that logging in through the trainer club account will provide additional benefits in the future, such as codes and other extras. Apparently, you can't keep one account and switch interchangeably from a google login to a trainer club login - can anyone confirm this?

I've yet to see proof that one will provide anything over the other. The app itself asks if you want promos and newsletters sent to your email. I'd hope that it would be he same promos to everyone.
