I've yet to see proof that one will provide anything over the other. The app itself asks if you want promos and newsletters sent to your email. I'd hope that it would be he same promos to everyone. Also hope that if that isn't the case we can link the to out PTC accounts considering PTC was undergoing maintenance when Go launched.
I also cannot login to that account on the Pokemon website. People have been saying that logging in through the trainer club account will provide additional benefits in the future, such as codes and other extras. Apparently, you can't keep one account and switch interchangeably from a google login to a trainer club login - can anyone confirm this?

I logged in this morning with my Pokemon Trainer Club account but after the servers went down I haven't been able to log on again Google loggin works fine but I want to use my Trainer Club account. Who else has the same issue? Almost everyone.
From what I've read, it's two separate accounts. Progress won't be lost if you make a new account. I did by accident the one day and I thought I lost all my progress from my PTC account but found out that's not true

Having no end of login issues, every single day it's hit and miss, not being able to authenticate for hours at a time, etc, the list goes on. I hear and see threads about google accounts having little to no problems; atleast not anywhere near the extent that PTC is epceriencing.

For some reason, for the past few weeks, I cannot log into Pokemon GO.I made the mistake of accidentally signing out a few weeks ago and when I tried to sign back in, I got the "We are humbled by your response" message.
Does my Trainer ID (secret or otherwise) affect anything in-game? What I'm thinking about is something like what they did in Pokemon RSE where your ID number determined your secret base sprite and the Mauville guy.
