The levelling scheme obscures the damage capabilities of each weapon type. A Light Machine Gun may seem less damaging than a Heavy Machine Gun but at an equivalent level, the LMG has a higher DPS than the HMG, although the shot-to-shot damage is less. It would take an hour of random fights to earn as much so to level up in the game as early as possible they were neccessary. Now you can earn almost as much for one fight as a substory.
