Yeah, a number of the guides can be a little iffy on the requirements for it to count. A good several of them think it only counts if you lose the card in Dollet (method 2a), and don't even account for the notion of losing the card elsewhere and then talking to her.
Doesn't Timber have a bad rule set when you're trying to get the Angelo card? I can see that might be a pain also if the rng does get locked. Maybe getting into a battle may also change something if that is the case as well. I finished my playing session today when I got the Angelo card and before the mission.

Well, that's a tough question. The ball dance demo is just part of the demo for PlayStation 2. I don't think Square will re-developed Final Fantasy VIII for PlayStation 2. I guess the demo is there to show the capabilities of the PlayStation 2 and tell people how many times advanced it is over PlayStation.
