My favorite thing there is actually their gelato. I prefer it over otto's whose gelato is much thicker like ice cream, but I like my gelato to taste light. Doughnut plant and milk bar are unique but aren't very cheap. So if you get something at either place make sure it's highly recommended especially with milk bar because it's very hit or miss.

However, I felt that it paled in comparison to my favorite restaurant while in college: El Pollo Rico. The restaurants have totally different vibes; for example Pio Pio has a full menu while EPR only offers 1/4, 1/2, or whole chicken with fries and cole slaw. Those factors aside, I think EPR chicken is far and away better.

Hello all. I will be in Fairfax, VA, for a few days at the beginning of December and I should be able to spend a day in DC too. I don't drive, so I will not be able to go too far our of the way, but I am willing to uber further if something's that amazing.
-Senor Chicken - NW corner University and NH in big shopping center - this felt the most like EPR - they've been there awhile, businesslike, about 5 on the assembly line, the seating area is long and narrow but cleaner than EPR, not exactly charming but not unpleasant - chicken quarters looked like they were from pretty small birds but diners ...
El Pollo Primo is one of the earliest chicken joints on Rockville Pike. Since I was a kid, my parents would order take-out since it's not such a big place to dine it. It used to be busy all the time. I don't know what it's like now since I haven't been to in a year, but my Salvadoran mother still prefers their chicken over any others.

One of my favorite meals in the area has always been the tandoori chicken and an order of dahi vada at Punjab Dhaba in Falls Church. Rasika has a lot going for it, but I do not consider it to be straight up Indian food, and not as great an experience as Saravana Palace.-----Punjab Dhaba 7263 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22042
