"I love ethnic food", and the inverse, "I dislike ethnic food", are two statements that I have been hearing more than usual. In my head, I have always thought of ethnic food as non-traditional cuisine from from lesser known countries, but, upon some thought, I entertained the question, "Isn't all food ethnic food?"
My husband and I are throwing a Spanish dinner party this weekend and we will be starting with some hot and cold tapas first. We're only making a few hot tapas and they are pretty easy to prepare and cook quickly (Champiñones al ajillo, Gambas al Ajillo, Pimientos de Padrón) so it shouldn't be a problem cooking those after the guests get there.
US beef is about 20% of the Japanese market and the lack of it drove up domestic prices, harming moderately priced restaurants catering to the middle class and of course supermarket prices. The food fights are barely even minor skirmishes in the trade wars. They only get our attention because we know the brand names.

This reminds me of the discussion on another recent thread about how US-produced "Champagne" was freely sold as such here in the US until recently (and the 'grandfathering in' of the name for firms that were previously freely using it) - because the US declined to sign the trade agreements involved and simply disregarded regulations that Europe and other signatories were bound by.
