On all other Settings, the Supply Crate has the Goggles inside it and there is no Bacta Canister. Collect the Goggles (and all discarded E11s) and head for the circular lift, operating the Control Panel just before boarding the platform; staying as near as possible to the Control Panel is the best option.
You'll find Jump nearby, and a door that leads back to the main area. I was stuck here for quite some time, because I didn't see the golden pillars off to the right as you enter the room. You need to use Jump to scale the pillars, after which you're done with the first go-round of tests. The next test is down the stairs and through the doors.

On the far side, follow the platform to the end and jump to the red metal beam across the gap. Once you grab it, jump up once to reach the next beam. Slide left along that beam to round the corner. After you’ve turned the corner, jump up once more to reach the top red beam. As you slide to the left, you should see your friend above you.
Note that you can catch him off guard and jump over him to attack him from above. The first time you do this he won't block your attack, but he will after you've engaged him. It's not a bad idea to farm this enemy here, it gives 40 Geo and you can fight it over and over again, just don't go overboard, Geo will be plentiful later in the game.
