These colorful, marbleized, portable chocolate domes are packed with the flavors and textures of some of Susanna’s favorite desserts, which include a kalamansi meringue pie, and the vero, a silver blue bonbon that houses a mix of sea salt caramel and crunchy pecan bits.

Ubon is a nice choice for a group's night out because they have a good range for people with different tastes: noodles, sushi and a few of Nobu's specials on a hand-written board.
The street it's on, called Abbott Kinney, is also a great place to walk around and shop, and has other places to eat well, like Joe's, mentioned above. Joe's can get spendy, so it's a better deal at lunch. I'm guessing Sis is too young to drink, but I like Library Alehouse in Venice for great beers and good pub food.

Many thanks to Jerome who pointed the way to the buffet lunch at Hsi Lai Temple in Hacienda Heights during my trip out to SoCal last week. I had been looking fruitlessly for pure vegetarian dimsum, but the food at Hsi Lai turned out to be just the thing.

It is an interesting pair: Social = loud, no service (unless you drop big cash on the drinks), and lots of pseudo attitude. Citrus (original) = Memorable food, friendly service, fantastic chef, fantastic (Latin) chef de cuisine, great ambiance. Now, the only thing in common = good people watching.
