Here is how I would do things with a new character who has relatively few IotMs. I should be able to get all these up to 20 lb. Note: if I have an IotM familiar, it trumps these. Baby Gravy Fairy (20 lb) Cocoabo (20 lb--very good to run in low yield areas for 10 rounds as it drops meat and gives +MP) Hovering Sombrero (20 lb)
You want to get olfaction before the hound, and the hound before the bounty gear. Because olfaction makes getting filthy lucre easier, and the hound can, too--in areas where combat % matters. The bounty hunting gear is pretty tempting, and it is pretty good, with a 65% item bonus, but IotMs you find along the way may trump it.

Head over to the purple tuba playing frog when prompted to save the corporal toy soldier. I suggest that you equip the Shooting Star keyblade, if you don't already have it equipped (for the Double Arrowgun ability). Counter Shield (from the Hero's Origin keyblade) is also extremely handy.

Initially available: Firefighter Rosette "That fiend keeps getting my pom-pom wet, kupo!" There are plenty of Water Cores in the various worlds.

The Sand Kingdom is the second kingdom players will truly come across in Super Mario Odyssey. It is truly remarkable and beautiful in design and graphics especially. I have not completed The Sand Kingdom in entirety just yet, but at the moment it stands as my favorite Kingdom in the game.
