Monsters are indeed not as useful. In DQV you only have the hero and no or very few humans for a good chunk of the game, so monsters are very useful and virtually necessary. the level need to be higher i will admit, i find 30's a little easier to manage against him thanks to his 2 attacks, like they say metal menagerie, as untill you beat him and the second challenge then tartarus training against MKS and LMS are pointless as sthey dont show all that often.
