On Sunday, Jan 20, 2013, I installed a number of updates for my office's Windows Server 2008 SP2 machine, and after the reboot, the system had some major difficulties starting up again.
At that point I was able to print a test page. It's ridiculous how much time it takes to fix this stuff. If you're having problems with any Brother printer, just call tech support right away.

Resetting the password is a trivial thing once you get the hang of making and booting the NTPASSWD CD. I see advice above that will do a lot more than clear that password. This is all your choice.
