Got the famous travesseiro at the popular Piriquita. That evening was my "travel agent dinner" so we started with huge drinks at Palace (nice Israeli folks next to us who we ran into the next day), then dinner at the modern Icomum (across from our hotel).
Crif Dogs (St Marks Pl and 1st Ave/Ave A) - I had to trry the Spicy Redneck after seeing it described. Worth $5? Not sure but tasted much better than your normal NYC hot dog. Also has one ingenious invisible restroom. Momofuku Milk Bar (13th and 2nd Ave) - Walked right past it but it's right next to Ssam Bar.

Actually, I liked the food quite a bit, but not the space. It was described in the Zagat guide as "one of the few places in RI where a Californian would feel at home", and, as a recent transplant from California, I thought that had to be a comment from someone who had never been there.

If you want to experience true Kerala food, then I would strongly recommend finding an authentic Kerala restaurant instead of South indian restaurant. I strongly believe, the so called South indian restaurants cannot do justice to the food.
