Room trade is finally working, did 2 random in a row. First time it seemed to glitch, I could see the Pokemon people were offering (shiny Charizard and a shiny tentecool) which was fun but alas I got my 700th Magikarp lol Second time seemed correct as I could only see what pokeball they were in which kind of adds to the fun.

It's very unlikely that they will add any more into Sword and Shield just for the sake of it. They won't put the work in for no return. However, when the next gen 8 games come out (assuming they don't skip straight to gen 9) there will surely be more pokemon in those games that aren't yet in Sword and Shield, and compatibility for those pokemon will likely be added to Sword/Shield via a patch ...
