It's pretty hand holdy, but that's modern gaming for you. Devs don't want you to get stuck every 10 minutes because that would hurt DLC sales and sales in general. You have the map showing you which rooms are cleared. They even show the items that are still in there in case you're low on health and you forgot a green herb somewhere.
So, now, instead of the two Umbrella facilities, one hidden underneath the Spencer Mansion in the Arklay Mountains and one underneath Raccoon City, there's also a third where employees are trained and is connected to a train line which also runs through the Arklay Mountains?

In fact, wasting red herbs on your green+yellow mixtures is a bad idea, because then you'll either have a health increase that you'll want to sit on until the next time you get low on health, or you'll waste a full heal just for that small max health increase.
