Not exactly food, but Mittal Teas in Sunder Nagar Market in Delhi is a really nice shop with teas of fantastic quality and freshness -- the prices might be high for India but are really low in US terms, and they have all sorts of packages, including souvenir types in kashmiri boxes and silk pouches as well as plain boxes and tins.

Also try out my favourite Kerala (coastal) joint on Church Street (off Brigade Road, parallel to MG Road)-Coconut Grove. As good or better than Karavalli and much cheaper.

Leaving for India in a couple of days. I'll obviously check out all markets and pick up what looks great but wondering if there are specific things you've brought back that were worth the luggage space. We'll be in Delhi/Jaipur and then in Kerala and the south - so lots of spice and tea plantations. And any suggestions about saffron?
