I've yet to see proof that one will provide anything over the other. The app itself asks if you want promos and newsletters sent to your email. I'd hope that it would be he same promos to everyone. PTC should never have been a log-in method, it's straight up garbage. At most PTC should be how the Sun/Moon interaction will work, transfer stuff there and then into the games, a quick link not a connection that has to be maintained.
